An airtight, water-resistant camping capsule that keeps stormproof matches dry and ready for outdoor fire starting.
-
Clean a standard amber or orange pill bottle with a push-and-turn moisture-resistant cap.
-
Trace the circular inside base and cut a disc of fine 220-grit sandpaper; glue it flat to the inside bottom of the bottle (or under the cap) to serve as a dry match striker.
-
Melt 2 tablespoons of paraffin or candle wax in a double boiler; dip cotton makeup pads or cotton balls halfway into the wax and let them harden.
-
Pack 10–12 strike-anywhere or stormproof wooden matches alongside the wax-dipped cotton fire-starters inside the bottle.
-
Wrap 3 feet of heavy-duty black gorilla tape around the exterior cylinder for emergency gear repairs.
